Philosophy

I do a lot of philosophy reading in my spare time, and a bit of writing as well when I'm inspired. Here are a few papers I've written on various topics. I'll continue to add more as time goes on.

Against Wilderness
Posted 11 July 2004 13:54:56.000
I wrote this paper at the end of January 2004 for Environmental Ethics. The assignment that inspired the paper was to explore what concept of Wilderness is appropriate for the conservation movement in this century, I decided to question the fitness of Wilderness as a concept for the conservation movement and came up with what I think is a better concept. Anyways, just to be clear the paper is not against physical Wilderness but the received notion of Wilderness as a concept for the conservation movement.

Dueling Ontologies
Posted 11 July 2004 13:58:40.000
This is a paper I wrote for a class on Existentialism. I compared and contrasted the ontologies of Buddhism and Sartre. I thought it would be a good relationship to look at since both place such emphasis on Nothingness or Emptiness.

Whitehead and Law
Posted 11 July 2004 12:44:54.000
Whitehead is probably my favorite philosopher. He didn't do any writing on the subject of Law so this paper is an attempt to pull together several areas of his thought and develop a Whiteheadian interpretation of Law. I'm currently working on refining this paper so that it can be published.
